About ATAR Calculator Australia
Our Mission
ATAR Calculator Australia was created with a simple but important goal: to demystify the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank system for students and parents across the country. We believe that every student deserves access to clear, accurate information about how their academic performance translates into university admission opportunities.
The ATAR system can seem complex and opaque, with different state curricula, scaling factors, and calculation methodologies. Our platform aims to make this information accessible, understandable, and actionable for all Australian students preparing for their post-secondary education journey.

Understanding ATAR
The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a number between 0 and 99.95 that indicates a student's position relative to all students in their age group. It's calculated by the Tertiary Admission Centres in each state after Year 12 results are released.
Each Australian state has its own curriculum and assessment system:
- New South Wales: Higher School Certificate (HSC)
- Victoria: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
- Queensland: Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
- South Australia: South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE)
- Western Australia: Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
- Tasmania: Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE)
- ACT: ACT Senior Secondary Certificate
- Northern Territory: Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET)
Despite these different systems, all students receive an ATAR that allows universities to compare applicants from across Australia on a consistent basis.
